When Did Someone Last Ask You 'Why Do You Go To The Chiropractor' In Te Puke NZ?

Chiropractic Te Puke NZ Why Do You Go To The Chiropractor

I had an interesting discussion with one of my patients recently. However, it wasn't until after thinking about it over the weekend that I realised just how much I had to learn from it.

They have been coming to see me at my Te Puke NZ chiropractic clinic for a few years but when they came in last week they told me a story. It was when a friend had asked them why they bothered going to see a Chiropractor. The friend didn't understand as my patient appeared to be perfectly healthy. They also didn't understand what it was that a Chiropractor actually does. The patient told me that they actually struggled to answer these questions and they felt unhappy because they couldn't answer these questions easily and with flow. I had to reassure them that it isn't them that should be feeling bad because this is actually a sign that I have let them down.

I know that many of our patients have been coming to see us for years. I also know that most people don't know anything about Chiropractic (about 90% of the population). So, I imagine a lot of my patients have had to answer similar questions and I have probably let them down too by not giving them the resources to answer such simple questions. So I thought that I best start rectifying this situation as quickly as possible.

The Why & How Of Chiropractic Care In Te Puke

There are a few very simple premises that are at the foundation of the WHY and the HOW of Chiropractic.:

  1. Your body is designed to work- Your body will always strive to heal itself and to function as well as possible.
  2. Your brain is in control of every function of the body - this doesn't just include things like pain, touch & movement, but also functions like; hormone levels, heart rate, digestion & even the immune system.
  3. Your brain needs to be able to communicate with your body - if this communication isn't getting through clearly then your bodies ability to work efficiently and effectively is impaired and you will be less able to heal yourself.
  4. Chiropractic works by removing the interference - if there are issues in the spine blocking these signals to and from the brain it will disrupt or stop the body's healing process.
  5. Finally, we believe it's easier to maintain good health than to restore it after it has gone - though we know that you are never a lost cause no matter how bad you think it is.

So, by honouring the bodies own natural ability we can help people heal themselves from all variety of health problems. What we don't do is the treatment of symptoms. In other words, when your 'check engine' light comes on in your car do you cut the wire and keep driving? Or do you get the engine checked? So, why would you treat your body any differently?
If you want more information on the principals of our Vitalistic approach, or for a more in-depth discussion about your own personal health or the health of someone you know then let us know.
For the vast majority of our patients that present at our Te Puke clinic, there has usually been a significant overall improvement in their condition.
